Every other bookkeeping app keeps your accounts on somebody else's server. Eclipse Finance keeps them in a file on your disk. There is no login to a company database, no copy of your revenue sitting in a warehouse waiting to be breached, and nothing to cancel.
These builds are not code signed yet. Windows will say the publisher is unrecognised — choose More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac, right-click the app and choose Open the first time.
That warning means nobody has vouched for the publisher yet. It is not a claim that anything is wrong with the app, and we would rather say so here than have you find out from a red dialog.
You do not sign up to anything. Your books are a file on your disk, protected by your computer's own account, and no server anywhere holds a copy. A company that never had your numbers cannot lose them, be subpoenaed for them, or sell them.
One file holds your ledger and every receipt, each with a checksum. A damaged backup is refused rather than half-restored, and restoring one sets your current books aside instead of overwriting them — so the wrong backup is not the last mistake you get to make.
Once a line is reconciled against a bank statement it is locked, and editing it means undoing that statement first. Imported statements are matched on the bank's own transaction ids, and anything that merely looks like a duplicate is flagged for you rather than decided for you.
